O / Create is an open-call competition for young, aspiring architects, artists, and designers to establish a space, a pavilion, or an installation that is developed and constructed
on the festival site. The proposal "22.K2100", by Konstantinos Itskos & Maria Mavromichali, was one of the pavilions built in August 2023 and deconstructed after the conclusion of the O / Days festival.
22.K2100 aims to address the challenges posed by climate change and rising sea levels in Copenhagen. Based on the hypothesis that by 2100, 22 neighborhoods in Copenhagen will be completely flooded, the installation utilizes a multivalent and agile system, assembled from the contents of safety kits* that are designed as part of the proposal, providing a crucial tool for immediate response and survival in the face of the ongoing climate crisis. This installation was designed by assembling and combining the materials included in these 22 safety kits.
*This safety kit, named K2100, is a packaged set of materials to be assembled. It is a set of equipment for an emergency to support, protect, and survive.
